I received my headlights yesterday. Quality looks great. The harness has everything labeled. I'm just a little unsure where the 3 pronged tab goes. Looks like it goes into a relay? I posted these on facebook and had a few people interested. I'm not sure what kind of profit youre making if you continue to make them, I think they will sell.

I'll post a comparison picture of before and after once I get everything hooked up.

Received mine yesterday and couldn't wait to put them in. Haven't had a chance to drive it in the dark yet, but they do look fantastic! My car is gold so the completely blacked out look works fabulous. I'll get pictures up soon. Turbo II, thank you so much for this setup!

This rate of delivery is unacceptable. Do you know what would be said about me if I were to take people's money and hold it for 3+ months without delivering a product and without constant updates? Just think. People would be posting all over this forum, blowing up my phone and email, attempting credit card chargebacks, filing reports with the BBB and who knows what else. And I build something as complex as engines, which probably take a *little* more effort and time than custom headlights.

It is clear you have overcommitted with this group buy and now your buyers are the ones suffering because of it.

I was trying to bite my tongue and hold out long enough for you to get my set done and delivered to me, so that I could possibly preserve the ability to get more sets done by you in the future (I have multiple vehicles that I would like to retrofit). But at this point it is a moot point anyway, with this level of service I would not send you any more work regardless because you appear to be a poor businessman or at least a poor planner.

If you look at other retrofitters it takes 3-4 weeks to get done with one. I am pumping out nearly 3 in a week. I don't think you guys know what is involved in a retrofit. It isn't simply putting together parts each one is custom I have no patterns to go buy. I can build an engine with no porting in a few hours that's because each part are made to fit each other. It takes me an nearly an hour just to take the lenses on and off the housing. Then you add in epoxy drying time which can't be done in one step because there is a certain order I put the parts in and then the actual retrofitting process. If I didn't have to wait for the projectors then I would of been done a long time ago but as I said a while ago those things I have no control of.

I have done a retrofit in one day using quick set epoxy for a friend and it took me 12 hours with a little down time for a snack.

This is not my real job I am just doing this because a lot of people ask and I like making them. If I actually counted the labor hours involved I would be payed way below minimum wage.

Yours and Project10ae are being shipped today.

I've been a customer of yours and I have the greatest respect, but I have to come to this guys defense. I've been to the website that sells the parts he's using less the housings and he's charging LESS than they would sell just the components for. I've been part of group buys for other types of stuff (e-cig type stuff) and in that world, you pay up front before the stuff is even manufactured so a two-three month wait after full payment is to be expected. I will say, delays in getting the raw materials to him was a bad thing for us, but once they did arrive, he's been moving rather quickly. I was 4th in the first group and have had mine for a week now. The workmanship is fantastic and the results are well worth the price and the wait.
Believe me, I understand your point of view, your customers expect you have the parts on the shelf, ready to ship same day and if it's not, they scream bloody murder. This guy is doing this basically as a service, sharing something he does for fun, and like I said, I can't see where he's making any money on these. Give him a chance.

The dude went from 4-4 until I called him out yesterday 4-17 with zero status updates or responses in this thread. That's 2 calendar weeks. It's not the first time we've gone weeks without word from him in this thread, either. And you say that he needs to be defended by you? It's bad enough to have holdups on parts and materials. But at least a weekly public posting to say "sets A, B, C, and D have been made and shipped...sets E and F are being manufactured currently and will be shipped by next saturday...sets H and after are scheduled for assembly next week..." and so on would go a long way to appease waiting buyers.

I think that one thing that's caused misunderstandings on my parts is that here, https://www.rx7club.com/group-buy-pr.../#post11659246 he shows that I am first in the 2nd group, even though looking back through the thread, I should have been last. That implies that because I paid in full, I got moved to the front, while the others didn't because they must have just paid deposits (or not at all) to get on the list. Then I see the other guys saying they've gotten their kits already, and naturally it seems to me that they've been made out of order. Looking back through the thread it seems like he's actually making them in order of commitment and not necessarily in the order he placed us on the lists or the order we paid in full.

Also, looking back through the thread, I think I understand the source of some of the delay. He didn't even order any of the parts at all until he had ALL of the money from all 5 people in a group. So the people who paid deposits and sat there for a while before paying the balance, probably held the rest of the group up, if I am understanding this correctly. Seems odd that he'd take deposits at all, in that case.

There's a guy in Knoxville who does retrofits just like this. He charges a bit more but he also gets them out in a month's time routinely. As far as he told me, he buys from TRS and gets the materials in 1-2 weeks without issue most of the time. I was going to go with that guy at the time, but I saw this and thought I'd support one of the rx7 guys instead.

This has just been a clusterf**k all the way around, in my view. Maybe I'm being too hard on him, but it just seems like weak administration and planning. You will never convince me that 12 calendar weeks is an acceptable time for delivering a product that the seller admits can be made in as little as 24 hours.

you can get nearly the same results with off the shelf parts from most any HID store, for about $150. not the same parts but the byproduct was still satisfactory IMO, not sure why people want to wait 3-4 months which also tells you how long you will wait if you have a problem with them.

TRS is my supplier and you have witnessed things don't always always ship that fast. I had a plan of doing groups of five so people at the begining didn't have to wait for the people at the end to pay since these group buys generally take a while to fill up. Since the projectors took a long time to get the groups basically merged together. Right now I am just building as fast as I can this is not my real job so I can't spend 40 hours a week on them. Some take longer to make such as the e46 since they involve an extra step thus the reason it took a little longer.

If you find the date I received the projectors when I could actually do the work on the lights you will find that I got the retrofits out in less than a month.

I admit I don't post here a lot but I didn't think constant updates were needed since others were showing that the lights are rolling out.

You can't get the parts I am using for that cheap since they are patented and only sold by TRS. Yes I could of bought cheap components but you guys would have no warranty and bad quality parts and I would be having more than shipping delays to worry about.

This is why we basically stopped advertising our FC headlights... we couldn't compete with turboIIrotary's price to make these. I have to tell you guys, being in the HID world, he's making next to nothing for his work. It's a terrible business model, and he's essentially making a little extra spending cash. These are hand made... and yes if it was his full time job he'd have them to you by now, but if it was his full time job he'd be charging much more

This isn't Apple you're waiting on, it's one guy hand building these at home in his spare time... I know the wait sucks but I can assure you guys with the price he's charging he is literally donating his time.... cut him a little slack

No offense but you do not know what you are talking about. You could also put h4 "HID" reflector bulbs into your stock h4 housings for $75 dollars... is this "acceptable performance"? Not to me. The term "HID" gets thrown around quite a bit without people understanding the technology at all. Bi-xenon HID projectors are not in any way shape or form comparable in the slightest to reflector kits... then you have varying levels of quality for the bi-xenon projectors themselves, including different bulb types. A bb gun and an actual gun are the same thing in that they both shoot things out of them... that's about as much of an overlap as drop in "off the shelf HID's" and actual HID headlights have.
