That was a pointless post francogt1.

Anywho, do you have pictures as an example from another car at all? Just trying to think what it would look like.

Why make just a cover.
Just make the UIM CF like the Feed and Kiwi Re one :)

I personally want some proper gauge pods made for the drivers and passenger door air vents.

It would be for those with front mount set ups. Exact contour of the uim. It would slip over top of it possibly using the intercooler mounting points.

Oh and franco's respons was because he is trying to sell his car on ebay......i was messing with him yesterday.

Can you use regular boat resin with carbon fiber, or does it have to be super clear with different properties?

All us vert guys are still waiting for a carbon fiber or fiberglass trunk lid

Everybody wants an aluminum (or carbon fiber) underbody tray

Rob XX 7 03-25-09 12:13 PM

the undertray I really want, the trunk lid- eh, probably too much of a limited market for them to bother.

You need to think about that for a minute.

If you bottom out with an aluminum under tray, you dent it, and cause fucked up airflow to occur. If you bottom out with a composite under tray, you can EASILY AND QUICKLY REPAIR IT!!!!!!!!

Wait, you mean metal might get dented and you could simply pound out the dents. But you'd rather bust out your fiberglass repair kit and get the epoxy mixed up to fix gashes and scrapes in fiberglass. Or zip tie it...
It would be lighter maybe... But sheet metal really isn't going to weigh much at all either.

I'll take metal. But Aluminium is not going to be as cheap as stainless steel sheet metal, I'm going make my own I think... Unless a professional wants to do it and sell it to me?

Black Knight RX7 FC3S 03-26-09 06:59 PM

wait...wtf
is that carbon fiber uim just a cover or is it a entire uim.....

and +1 to the aluminum undertray!!

RotaryRocket88 03-26-09 07:22 PM

All this interest in an aluminum undertray makes me want to finish the half-done one in my garage. I'll add it to the list of projects.

Kerebrus 03-26-09 11:50 PM

We're going to be making the aluminum undertray. Look for a Group Buy soon.

Suhweeeet! Nobody makes an undertray. Lots of interest but just no one to power through. You got me as a buyer!

Carbon Fiber would be awesome, I would be in for that. Also someone needs to make an S4 lip! :icon_tup:

Squeeb 03-27-09 01:07 PM

Yes I am aware of that lip, and it's one of the very few available for an s4 bumper. We need variety :icon_tup:

NOPE.

Metal stretches and deforms when you "pound out the dents" trust me, I know all about this shit. A composite and reinforced undertray would be 1000 times better.

I know metal stretches and deforms thats why and how you can pound out dents. FRP underbody tray would probably be ok also, carbon fiber would be expensive, but for either you have to make a mold, which isn't as easy as cutting/bending/deforming/drilling sheet metal.

The first one is being made as we speak.

Black Knight RX7 FC3S 03-27-09 08:13 PM

:D

i hope its an aluminum one!!.
Carbon fiber under tray are good but the time to fix it when at the track takes too long hahaha. Also, I just like shiny aluminum :)

J.MurdaFCs3 03-29-09 01:06 AM

+1 FOR THE TRAY.

while we're suggesting might i say a gauge pod like the subby's
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/9336/bezel.jpg

S4GXL 03-29-09 10:45 AM

^ yeah those are cool i guess...i would be happy with an on-dash pod setup though. i cant see myself spending money on that pod unless it was almost as cheap as 2 normal pods.

Rob XX 7 03-30-09 06:24 AM

that particular pod set up would not work, we need them on top- also might like them better with 2 gauges on one side instead of that mickey mouse ear look.

Pics and Price?

There used to be a dash gauge pod on ebay but it was for RHD with two pods on one side...

Thanks

Kerebrus 03-30-09 11:25 AM

It will be done within a week or so, pics will be up then. What are people expecting to pay for something like this?

Nick_d_TII 03-30-09 12:37 PM

$1... no.... maybe $2 with free shipping? Ha ha! J/K

Depending on how good they look and fit up I'd say $50-150... maybe up to $250 if they look real nice. Carbon Fiber would be +$300. (prices before shipping)

But all pricing aside what would I BUY one for probably around $75-150 as it is just an underbody tray... kinda useful, but not exactly a must have...

Aluminum is more expensive than SS sheet metal I believe... I'd say the price to fab it up would be, 4'x'4 Aluminum sheet .040(3/64) thick is $36-ish, bending, drilling, cutting... I'd say $75 to make, add 50% Puts you around $100 bux.

Does that seem reasonable?

Kerebrus 03-30-09 12:41 PM

Not really. The materials alone are going to cost about $50-70, that's not including making it, S&H, etc. It will look really nice and be an A+ product none the less.

JCurry 03-30-09 02:00 PM

yall should make an upper radiator cooling panel while your at it,, seems there kinda hard to find a good aluminum one these days...corksport is like the only one i think....

Are you talking about this? Yes Corksport already makes it and it's a great price, why would we make another?

rx7 FC TII 03-30-09 06:25 PM

gauge pod. http://www.shop.retro-spec.net/produ...1?productId=21

i would rather see this one with maybe 4 on it. 2 on one side and 2 on the other.

LaSkt9 03-31-09 04:05 PM

^ i like that

You sure about that? Last time I saw a FEED CF FD UIM piece it was just a cover, exactly like the picture that has been posted in here.

I think the only reason would be to produce one that doesn't have a logo on it, for someone who is going for a more clean look. Other than that it would be kinda dumb to waste time making these.

SirCygnus 03-31-09 06:54 PM

hurry up and start selling the under body tray already.

Kerebrus 03-31-09 06:56 PM

We can sell it now if you want a crappy product, or you can wait for something worth purchasing :):icon_tup:

lonetlan 03-31-09 08:19 PM

Brake Master Cylinder brace, a legit piece that can bolt in.

An N/A, or Turbocharged engine cover, I saw a couple members asking for that, its not my particular style, but those people would buy it.

Drop in cup holders, Put one in the center console in the big area for two, or if the AAS is removed, one could fit in that little rectangle.

Make a window switch package, that has the amplifiers

DTSS eliminators for the models that can't use it

Steering Angle Kit for the models that can't use it

Plexiglas or any other related material for a moon roof, like the rare model rx7

The aluminum undertray that was mentioned above

Euro lights for an FC, I know that its Hondalicous, but I'm just thinking of replacing the bulbs with LEDs, not totally making it white

Transmission rebuild package, I can't find one

I guess the word is "blue prints" for: Strut tower braces, Exhaust, Headers, and sway bars; I like the make things this simple instead of just buying it. This would help with how much material to get.

This is all my input, Don't think too much on all this, because I think it comes down to supply and demand. I hope it helps a bit though!

It was a joke, it's not even complete yet. Have patience.

You guys should make a cheap lip for s5/maybe s4 if you can pull it off

I can't really justify spending 150+ on a lip :/
