NoLimitMotorSport.com:: Just had to share

About 2 years ago, I ordered a Walbro HP pump for my FC, from NoLimitMotorSport.com. My engine was in pieces and the car was a ways from running; but I needed to start compiling parts for this build. The pump sat in the shop, in the original box for months, well past the 14 days I had to return it if I was unhappy with the purchase.

I never really looked into any warranty info. I just assumed that the Walbro was a decent pump because so many of you use it seemingly without problem.

Finally, it came time to fire the car up. Things were going alright through the process of getting the car running well, but I always seemed to be battling tuning inconsistencies... The AFR would be off from time to time, the gas mileage was terrible, the car never seemed to run the same from red-light to red-light.

I was getting pretty frustrated. I had both my engine builder, Elliot, and my MoTeC dealer, Paul, look into the problem. We spent HOURS trouble-shooting. LOTS of problems/loose ends got fixed in the process, but there was ALWAYS the same weird issues. Sometimes more extreme than others.

Along the way, I had two different rotor-heads comment on how loud my pump was. I told them it wasn't called a "Whine-Bro" for nothing. But they both had Walbro's that were MUCH quieter. One of them even commented that I should send it back.

I should've listened. The problem persisted, and finally my fuel pressure regulator gave way. It was visibly leaking. During this repair, I was intent on tracking down the culprit of all my tuning woes. Elliot noticed that the Walbro was erratic at times and the fuel pressure was WAY high. Finally, the Walbro could pass the buck no more!!

I called NoLimitMotorSport.com immediately. They said that the performance pumps have no warranty from Walbro. I called Walbro and they confirmed the sad news, and said that even if there was a warranty, I was passed the allotted time for their OEM products.

I was pretty upset because this pump had seen no more than 6000 miles in 2 years. This problem was casued by Walbro's manufacturer. I shouldn't have to pay twice for the same product... But I did. I accept responsibility for not testing the Walbro at the first sign of a problem, but even then, there would've been no compensation for the defect. That is a terrible policy in my opinion.

I turned back to NoLimitMotorSport.com and bought another pump. NLM has a better price on this than any place I found, and they don't rape you on shipping. I was facing a tight deadline and needed the pump this week. The problem is, like many, I have tightened my budget... and over night shipping was not really an option for me.

I ordered the pump and selected regular shipping, knowing it would be too late. Then I sent NLM an email requesting a free upgrade to overnight. I acknowledged that none of this was their fault, but I feel like I shouldn't have to pay twice.

The response I got was simple...
"I'll see what I can do"

The next day the pump showed up.

This is a very tiny, inexpensive gesture from NoLimitMotorSport.com. And it may not mean anything to you. But it mean a great deal to me. In this small gesture, they have earned my business and I will look to their site first for any new parts I might need.

Thanks for taking the time to read. And thanks NLM for stepping up when you didn't have to.

Cliff Notes:
1. I ordered a Walbro from NoLimitMotorSport.com 2 years ago.
2. It was defective out of the box.
3. Walbro has no warranty, and would not work with me at all. (pump had 6000 miles on it)
4. I bought another pump from NoLimitMotorSport.com and they upgraded my shipping to overnight for free.
5. They did not owe me anything, but did this gesture anyway.
6. Check out their website because the have great prices and are decent people to work with.

well. a shop owner would find hard to believe that you didnt use it for two years.
**** happens buddy .. what can i say. as least its something relatively cheap and you didnt have to pay for a while new engine for example.

Nolimitmotorsport even if i havent heard of them before, acted the right way and did you a favour for the overnight shipping. So yeah i suppose they are in the good suppliers group.

I've been building cars for my whole life. I am quite familiar with '**** happening'.
I mentioned above that it was not really a huge deal, but they stepped up anyway.

Shop owners don't believe ANYTHING, much less that a car sat. I never said it sat for two years, I said I put 6000 miles on the pump in two years... that is accurate. I also have a blog that dates EVERY step of my build.

www.87rx7.blogspot.com

You can see I bought the pump around Nov 9th 2008 and the car didn't even START until May 5th 2007. Then there was a period of trouble shooting and tuning. The car was down for various things like turbo upgrades, fuel system upgrades, etc... So there is documentation.

I never expected NoLimitMotorsport to believe me or help me. They did. Simple as that.

I'm good bro.

Just saying, parts/shop guys aren't gonna believe word of mouth. I agree.

I just wanted to praise these guys for being cool, and helping me out. I am SO glad it wasn't something more serious like a motor...
