Thumbs up Chips Motorsports review

I wanted to give a review based upon my experience based on Chip Ursu and Chips motorsports. I recently have not had the best of luck with shops and was pretty much ready to give up on my 20b project and just sell the car. Luckily I had done some business in the past for a few parts from a company called chips motorsports out of Michigan. I contacted Chip with an interest in him setting the clutch release bearing on my t56 setup for my 20b and setting up my steering rack for a low profile manual rack he said he would be happy to. So I sent him the transmission and steering rack wouldn't you know it UPS tore up the transmission. As frustrated as I was Chip quickly took pictures so that I could make a claim and have UPS pay for the bell housing they smashed. I considered sending him the motor as well to have him rebuild it as the last shop that tore it down had lost my trust and had let it sit for many months without reassembling even after being paid to port it and reassemble it. But after the issue with UPS I was hesitant to send my 20b. So I thought about it and decided I would try one last shop and if it didnt work out to throw in the towel. After realizing if I wanted to get it there in one peice apparently I would have to deliver it myself. Which luckily gave me a chance to see the place and meet the owner. So I took off work for the week and drove from oklahoma city to a little north of detroit to deliver the motor. I drove through the night and finally stopped in Kalamazoo Michigan got a room and got some rest. the next day I drove to Chip's shop. All I can say is INCREDIBLE! great setup very clean(seriously you could perform surgey in this place) and he had already most of my steering rack completed which was a pleasant change as the last place I dealt with would chew me out for asking if anything had been done on the parts that I already paid for in advance. But when it came to chip one week and he had already completed the machining and bead blasted the tube and was working on reassembly. I was able to get a good look at his gold digger car and i have to say as good as the pictures look it doesn't compare to real life this thing is a litteral peice of art. Not one single detail had been skipped. Chips people skills and customer service skills were top notch. knowing that I like to shoot guns he invited me to shoot some cans with him in the yard next to the shop. Great fun shooting his 1911's and my HK45. This guy has a great future ahead of him and his work is on par or above any shop I have ever heard of. Honestly other shops should be taking note of how he does things. Fast turn around times, great prices, great customer service and there really isnt anything he cant do. i wish I would have found this place years ago. we will be changing some big things on the motor I will keep you posted.

Thanks for posting this! I've been debating where to take my car to finish it off and I was really hoping to find a shop nearby that could do the 20B work I need. Turnaround time at this point is also huge for me so I look forward to talking with Chip and seeing how it goes =)
