88 Rx-7 Non-turbo

My friend just gave me his rx-7 yesterday. I put a new battery and spark plug wires in it and it still won't crank. I'm completely new to the whole rotary motor so please take it easy on me. I really love this car and just want to get it back running. He's had it sitting for about a year in his yard collecting dust. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Try putting some atf (automatic transmission fluid) on both of the bottom plug and manual crank it with a socket. I think the seal were stuck or the starter is dead. GL

would that be the only reason it wouldn't crank? how can you tell if the motor is blown?
