wierd tps behavior

87 n/a se
my tps wasnt showing any reading. my car doesnt idle because of it.
(testing A to C on clip
being

A B
C

is the clip)

so i thought it was dead so i have a new one on its way. well i took mine off today cuz i was bored. and i wound up testing it off the car and it actualy does show reading.

so i cleaned connections then warmed up car. pluged in the tps and bolted it back up and then tuned the tps to 1.00 ohm.

then realized "oh **** i forgot to turn on the key" so i did that. then the meter had no reading. turned on car. no reading. still wont idle. turned off key.. realized .. ahah there is my problem.

the meter cant read the ohm when the key is on or car is on . but can read it when the car is off and key is out/off.

so rotary buffs. what do i need to swap out/fix/rewire.

ignition? ecu? fuze? ground? short? wireing crossed?

update. i tuned tps proper way to 1ohm with it not connected and engine warm. while warming engine the dash started beeping a steady beep while i was holding it @ 2-3rpm. is this just power stearing fluid? it is not the same alert noise for coolant being low.

any way

tps clip coming from wire harness to tps tested at 5 volts on the red wire.
i do not know what to test the other to for.
red = A
black = B
green =C
A B
C

Please try using complete sentences, it was just a little confusing the way you wrote it. Ok, you thought your TPS was bad? Why did you think this in the first place? A person doesn't just walk out one day and say, "Hey, I think my TPS is bad!" For absolutly ne reason. What were your symptoms?

And I bet a lot more people would see this in the 2nd gen forum, I would try posting this there.

And of course you can't read the ohms of the circuit with power applied. You have to adjust it to the point where one wire reads 12v, and one wire reads 0v. Or as close as you can get to it. Do a search on how to properly adjust your TPS if you must do it. There is a good one on fc3s.org.

What other problems are you having? Your bad idle could also be caused by a vacuum leak as well, since you did just take the manifold off, you can check for leaks by using soap on the seams. Just look for bubbles. Is this N/A or turbo?
