im using one. i currently have 318rwhp w/ bnr stage 3s. had to spray and pour water to cool it down during tuning. it's an alright intercooler imo but i would like to upgrade to a v-mount when the time comes.

mine cools ok but i seem to be hitting a 350rwhp wall. The whole engine/turbo set up has changed except for the i/c but i still see the same problem, the tuner thinks its the i/c causing a restriction, i seem to have a 3-4 psi pressure drop from turbo to plenum.
Another guy at the dyno had the same i/c and when he changed it he made 40 rwhp more.

I seriously doubt there is that much difference in pressure loss based on the IC. The design is no different that many other SMIC's out there now. I will be putting some data up here today on efficiency of the XS Power IC as I have fitted GM AIT's on the inlet and outlet of mine to help define how good or bad the IC does. My next step was to check the total restriction and if I have time this weekend I will try and do that. If they were checking from the compressor out to the vacuum ports on the UIM at the LIM I could understand 3-4 psi total but a lot of that would not be coming from the IC.

this is the greddy i/c kit for the fc, but i the core has been replaced with an XS power unit 4" thick
nothing but happy with the results. air temps seriously stay around ambient under boost and pushing weeelllll over 400rwhp

I run an XS Power front mount in my S13...
Bone stock SR20, stock T25 turbo @ 13psi, no fuel management, and custom piping, I made 219hp and 225TQ to the wheels. We left the fan off on one run and it dropped hp by 7 peak. So I guess it works
Dunno if that helps, but it's another data point...

400rwhp is good, what boost is that running?
I had a series 4 engine with a GT35/40 running a 0.96 hot side, mildish porting, 3inch exhaust with a middle silencer, i made 350 rwhp at 1 bar at 7krpm,
i then built a new series 5 engine and changed the hotside on the turbo to a 1.15, made huge exhaust and inlet ports, and enlarged the runners a massive amount, the exhaust is now 3.5 inch with no mid silencer. Intercooler pipework is the same as before at 3 inch with an FD UIM and greddy elbow. Compression is very good and the car feels really strong and i get 350 rwhp a Boost is holding strong at 1 bar right the way through til 7500 rpm.gain but at 5.5k rpm but it goes flat and tails off early, torque is up a little. Everything is different but i cant seem to get past that power, the only thing thats the same is the intercooler!
i want to see 400 rwhp, which is only 50 more and should be possible with the extra mods to the engine. I didnt bother running more boost on the rollers as some thing obviously isnt right if the power is dying off that early.
The black run is the recent one, the pink one is the old engine

I asked the tuner about timing and he said that he used the same amount of timing as he would in any other rx7 that he tuned, he tunes nothing but rx7's although mostly FD's but still the Apexi Power FC which i am running. Surely timing shouldnt be that much different from a TII to a FD engine. Especially as my ports are very large and the same size and shape as a ported FD.

400 @ 15 psi is about right for that turbo.
Your "restriction" is the turbo itself.
It's not the intercooler.
