With all the different unbreakable seals out there in recent years, which are essentially all very similar in function and material, who is still using OEM Mazda seals to make big hp? I believe Abel Ibarra and Pica have both run low 7's some years ago with stock apex seals, obviously making a large amount of hp.

 

it's all in the tune. stock seals can handle the power but even a slight hiccup they shatter like glass.

i'm sure more than a handful of people have made in the 700-800whp range on OEM but the softer seals add a little bit of error margin and can soak up a hit or 2, much beyond that the engine is going to twist apart whether the seals hold or not.

i somewhat recall an FD owner making slightly over 700whp on a stock unmolested REW, stock ports, unopened, 70 some odd thousand miles on it.
