Depends on the year. The 2nd gens were generally heavier. In 86 the second gen was around 27 or 2800 lbs, but grew to more than 3000 for the vert by 91. The 3rd gen weighs from 2750 to 2880 depending on the model (93 R1 was lightest). The Touring (with the bose) was the heaviest.

My car weighed next to my friends 02 trans am. I weighed in at just over 2712, while he weighed in a 3550. When we replace our full exhaust we not only gain nearly 80 HP to the wheels, but we also lose about 50-70 lbs depending on what was replaced. for example the precat is 40 lbs and replaced with 8 lb item. The exhaust and main cat are similiar.

I am not ripping the seats out of my car to save weight. My car is and will remain a funtional daily driver. If it is a fat pig then that is the way it will stay. I will just have to compensate with hp. It is nice to see you can reply without being a jerk. Thanks for the info.

I wasn't suggesting you rip your seats out, also my cars weight of just over 2700 lbs is just from the exhaust savings and lighter battery (stock is 39 lbs, got a 25 lbs one).

This is a not a post in the lounge or kills section, if you search my screen name you will see I take these sections rather seriously.

Later.

I know. It's just that taking the seats out is one of the first things that people recommend to lose weight. I know that seemed kind of random but, my point was that I want a street car not a race car.

I see nobody answered his initial question.

For the US market 3rd gen the car was speced. at:
R1 - 2800 lbs
Touring - 2950 lbs
Usually these figures are with an empty fuel tank, but oil in the engine.

Major difference is sunroof, rear wiper, Bose system added to touring. Minor changes are dual oil coolers in R1 and cruise control in touring.

Mine is a CYM base model (Canadian car) with cruise (no sunroof or rear wiper). It's close to 2800 lbs. with 1/2 tank of fuel. Probably about 30 lb less than an R1 US model (has cruise but no second oil cooler).
