What do i have?

I have a 1985 GSL-SE that I bought a few months ago and have been doing a lot of work on but just realized that maybe I don't even know what engine I have... The previous owner said that the engine and transmission were from an 87 TII and maybe they are but I ran into something that goes against that. I ordered a list of parts from Mazdatrix with one being an oil pan gasket. I got the pan off last night and realized that the gasket does not match. After looking on their site, I do have the gasket for 86-92, but it looks like I need the one for 74-85. The pickup tube I have also matches the one they show for a 79-85 model. So yeah it seems like I have a stock 85 engine, but it seems to have TII parts also, like the intake and TMI. So I guess my question is, is there something I could check so that someone could help me figure out what I have?

in order to install a 2nd gen motor into a first gen chassis, it will need to use the oil pan and gasket, oil pick up tube, front cover and motor mount from a 1st gen , more specifically the GSL-SE. so it does sound , by your description, to be legit
