weird fuel? problem

hi guys got a weird issue with my series 5 jap fc

seems to be goin into some sort of limp mode? basically within the first few
minutes of driving it starts spluttering and backfiring if i give it any more than say 10% throttle.
however if i kill ignition then turn it back on it fixes the problem for a varying amount of time.

to try and fix this ive replaced,
spark plug leads, fuel filter, fuel pump ive also run fuel system cleaner to no avail
and replaced the knightsport chipped ecu with 2 different stock ecu's.

apart from exhaust/intake/ ecu. its a stock car, the only other thing i can think of is fuel regulator (ive got a sard one lying around i can replace it with but not sure where on an fc the regulator is) any other suggestions would be great

thanks in advance. Will

S5's have a problem with the electronic oil metering pump (OMP) failing and defaulting the car into limp mode. Is your check engine light on or working? Any codes? A failed OMP often takes the ecu with it when it fails as well. Should be lots of info in the 2nd gen technical section. I'm not that knowledgeable so I don't want to give you wrong info. Good luck.
