Vehicle having trouble above 3500rpms

I have a 91 rx7 vert, just recently purchased with a crate engine and a few other fixes. The owner before me though didn't drive it often and so it sat after I made my down payment so before I got it, it sat for a few months. Ran excellent for 2-4 days I mean phenomenal. Then out of no where I'm driving and it just starts dying on me, not so much so that it shuts off but it refuses to go above the 4k threshold regardless of the amount of gas I give it. I changed the fuel filter and clean the pumps sock as the owner before me says it's something fuel related but that did nothing for me. Please if someone could help me fix this Id be more then thankful.

Cory.

Sounds like your secondary injectors aren't kicking on. May as well take all 4 and send them out to be serviced

Thanks for the speedy reply buddy, will that cause it to jerk etc? I mean it was honestly out of no where no signs of this before...I did let it go under a quarter tank and I believe was the result from doing so. I just can't figure out what it is.

Very good chance, the secondary injectors are supposed to kick in at about 3500 rpm, but, one other thing, if you have a horrible ground (theres one under the intake) it could be giving you tons of fits too

I am having a very similar problem. It will not even rev over 2k-3k sometimes, but sometimes it runs great. I do not understand. And there is a burning rubber smell coming from under my car somewhere that I can't track.

Need to make sure the engine ground is good to go. You can look up Aaron Cake's site for how to deal with all the various grounds.

Do you smell gas when that happens?

I'm suffering a similar problem as mentioned here: https://www.rx7club.com/new-member-r...00rpm-1081404/

I'm taking my car to a specialist next week, assuming they find the problem, I'll report back here as well.

The specialist tracked the problem down to a single failed secondary injector in my case. Happy it's running right now.
