Trying To Find Rotary For 510 Please Advise
Looking to find a rotary for a 510 I am purchasing. Not new to motor swaps BUT very new to rotaries. Definitely a newbie in this area. Looking to get info on which motor I should be looking for and what the prices are on motors or front clips.
Not sure If I should be posting this somewhere else, if so moderators please feel free to move it.
Thanks so much for the info guys in helping a newbie in your world out.

How Much power are you looking for?
How much money do you want to spend?
Fuel injection? Carb? Turbo?
I Like 510's a lot and always thought it would be cool to do what you are doing. There are at least 2 In the Atlanta area that I know of. Both Have turbo 2 motors in them. One is a street car and the other is a race car.
If you see a white one running around with a tag that reads "TURBO 2" that is one of them. I don't know the guy but I've seen him at road atlanta a couple of times.
If it where my project I would go with a T2 motor and use a standalone ECU, stock turbo, and front mount intercooler. With a ported motor and the supporting hardware this could support around 250 rwhp. This would be awsome in that car.
I have done pretty much the same thing in my 89 vert.
You should come to our poker run on the 4th. It ends at my house and you can check out what I've done in my car. It would be simular to what you would be doing except mounting the engine.
Here is a link to the poker run info.https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=226067
Good luck,
Mike

Yeah, I'd love to come out if I can make it, thanks for the invite. Hope you guys won't mind a 337 tagin along.
What kind of investment am I looking at in a motor? Truthfully, I am so new to rotories, I don't even know what to be looking for, but turbo is definitely the key here. I have alot of experience with turbo cars. I had one of the first built turbo 2000 Si's in the south east with an F-Max T3/T4 kit, doing some work to the 1.8t in my 337, and most recently did a 240sx CA18DET swap. But the 337 is my daily driver and I am looking to find something that I can really play with again without any worries about needing that vehicle to get around town.
Would prefer to stick around the $1000 area for the complete motor if that is possible. Can I find a complete Turbo II for this or newer, or am I just dreaming?

The stanalone ECU stuff is going to cost you over 1k alone when you are all said and done.
I have a 72 510 and am putting in a 13b in it. I am going with a 2nd gen 6port and a carburetor setup.
Simply because EFI was a bit too expensive and complicated for me.
That is all personal preference. If you are looking to turbo, then EFI is probably the best answer. But dont expect to only spend $1000. Its going to take alot more than that.

You should be able to get a known good short block for $1000 but I doubt you can get anything new, built, or ported for that.
I would say if you can do most of the work yourself it would probably take around $4k for a good T2 set up making 250 -300 hp.
What are your HP goals for this thing? That will help us let you know what it will take.
I'm assuming that you will use the T2 tranny? How about the rear end? Is it going to take the torque that a turbo rotary will make?

The rear end should be fine. I have been reading that a 300zx rear end out of a junk yard should bolt up pretty easily. HP goals off the bat would not be high at all. Would first be simply looking for a complete turbo motor. All I am looking to do off the bat is buy the car, buy the complete turbo rotory, rear end, and have a drive shaft made for me. I have learned through experience that it is often better to get a project like this up and running without modifications first, so that if their are problems it will be easier to fix them without having the additional headaches of dealing with performance parts/computer controllers/etc.
So that being said, stock HP is fine off the bat, but long run HP goals would be in the range of 250-300whp. So what motor should I be looking for given the eventual goal, that would also be realitively inexpensive in stock form?
Thanks for all the feedback guys, this has been a great deal of help!
