TPS Problem, Has anyone heard of this?

Hey guys I recently found that my TPS was not plugged to the connector or whatever. (I'm assuming the tps is that little black box thing on lower part of throttle body with the connector on it) When I connect it my car makes weird exhaust noises like the exhaust was plugged up or something, although when I down shift and let it roll the rpms go down very smoothly. When I disconnect it though my car does not make that exhaust noise and the rpms drop rather roughly. ( When decelerating my car makes that thwump thwump thwump sound like it was heavily ported or something. Sounds like a freakin V-8 or something) Is this normal, that my car runs better without the tps connected or should I try another tps. Some tips and advice would be appreciated.
Thanks guys

Jon

If it runs better without the TPS, then the TPS is probably bad. Did you just recently buy the car and the previous owner unplugged it?

The TPS thats on there may just need to be adjusted. You need to put a jumper wire on the Initial Set Coupler when you hook plug in the TPS. If you don't have a factory service manual you can download it for free at www.iluvmyrx7.com or www.fc3s.org The FSM has the info on how to do what I'm talking about.
