Too much to take in :-x

I have owned an RX7 before and have done a lot of research on them (moddifying them as well) yet I am still lost... there is just too much to understand! I know that I want a FMIC (from research) and I know that I want a T66 and I think I'm going to get my engine rebuilt at Pineapple but... there is just so much with fuel systems (pumps), Ignition, rotor types (high comp. vs low comp), engine mods (seals, oil mods, etc...) and opinions are all over the place on which are worth it and which are the best... I guess I have also decided to go with the more expensive but nice 3mm ceramic apex seals. I guess there really isn't any way to cover all of these and research just confuses me more on some of the subjects... My question is if I go with Pineapple or a place like AtkinsRotary, should I just go with what they suggest on most of these things. If I tell them what I am looking to get out of the car should they be able to recommend my mods and should I take their advice? Thanks for helping me out guys. I'm slowly but surely learning :-p

I would trust Rob at pineapple, but unless they are installing the motor, most shops will balk at suggesting complete set-ups. What year RX? What will you do with it, and what HP , or performance goals do you have? There are known solutions to all the things you want to do, if you have deep pockets, and are ready to buy almost all new parts, it is not hard, to create a reliable system. You will need to find a tuner local to you, if you plan to go single, depending on who is near you, and what they are competent to tune will be the primary factor in selecting your engine management. if you want, you can call me on my cell(707-696-2705), and I'll spend a little time on where to start, and what to expect. You are right there are too many variables to simply try and give you a recipe without knowing a little more about your goals. Regards, Carl

Thanks Carl. I have seen you post in many different threads and you seem like you know a ton about what you are talking about. I am really looking for a 3rd gen to build up. Expect a phone call in a few days Thanks for everything...

Atkins rotary are the amongst the the best people you will meet, their advice will be sincere. As Carl says deep pockets will buy you a reliable set up but if you search you will see that people have made amazing results without busting the bank,3mm ceramics are top seals no doubt but these are unlikely to be a cause of failure even if you used std.seals provided you dont go mad with power,if its tuned right you can go for a more middle of the road approach and still have a cracking set up.
