timing?

i have a 91 rx7 and when i start the car, it's extremely loud, and will drive, but only at about ~5mph. I'm thinking the timing might have slipped. I doubt the engine was completly went out, because if it had, it wouldn't start and drive would it? Any input would be great.

You should think about doing a compression check on both rotor housing. Sounds like you might have a blown engine.

Yes it will start and run in some cases if you have a bad engine, my ran 50mph with a spun rotor bearing. Knocked like hell but it would still drive.
