Talk to me bout Peripheraled 3 & 4 rotors.

I've never driven one, so really have no clue what one feels like. But I've certainly heard plenty of em. Been thinking about a streetable project with one, and have some curious questions

1) I know they idle around 1500-2000rpm. But I don't think their braaap...braaap will really bother me. Is it really a big issue?

2) Was reading you can't cruise with one under 3000rpm. Why? Does it not make enough power to conquer friction and wind resistance at that rpm? Does the engine simply bog on you?

3) What is a common life span if NA?

Any other comments do tell.

1. i have seen ALL of the factory cars, 787,792, rx2's 3's 7's 8's, they idle between 900-1100rpms. back in the day it might have been different, as the roadracers do not care about the idle

2. the racing P ports have relatively a lot of time where the intake AND exhaust are open at the same time. at part throttle low rpm, it basically acts like a huge EGR valve, resulting in misfires.

3. life span depends on the parts and revs used. at 8500type rpms on the street with carbon seals, i think 30,000miles would be easy...

i'd suggest reading the book "rotary engine" by kenichi yamamoto, google search finds it, and it explains the pro's and cons of the port
