Switched Tranny's Help needed
I have an 87 RX-7 that before this weekend had automatic transmission in it. I just dropped in a 5 speed tranny installed a new flywheel, starter, pressure plate, engine wiring harness, pedal kit, and numerous other things to get this to go. Everything seems okay now except: I can’t get the starter to engage. Now I am wondering if there is a wiring setup for the clutch switch on the inside of an automatic’s wiring setup? Also is it a neutral safety switch issue? Any ideas or suggestions would be very helpful.
Thank You
Robert P.

If you replaced the flywheel, make sure that the front weight counter balance is also replaced in order to properly balance the engine, if not the engine will vibrate terribly and possible damage will occur. Need to use the counter balance that matches the flywheel(don't ask how I know). In my case, when I pulled the auto tranny out, the wiring harness from the tranny had the cable that actuated the starter solenoid, so I had to fabricate one to get it to work, also the reverse lights and the safety switch. Dig around and you will be able to get it done.
