Surging during cruising/steady speeds

involving 88 SE, NA, 5speed.

ive noticed recently that while holding throttle steady and maintaining speeds, the car will Surge periodically and speed up a tiny bit. and i also notice that my guage cluster lights would dim, and brighten suddenly, also periodically. its not gradual, its virtually on and off. you would think there is an electrical load being placed on the car causing the lights to dim and/or the fuel pump to slow down. and then the load would go away suddenly, the guage lights would brighten, and the car would surge foward, when maintaining steady speed.

other note, my cruise recently went out, w/ no prior hints of failure. one day, it just didnt work. the "main" indicator still turns on, and the "cruise" indicator still turns on, it just doesnt hold the throttle.

during this whole scenario, the car maintains a steady 14 volts...or 13.7. something like that. it doesnt drop. not like it would if there really WAS an electrical load placed on the system.

i did a search, and noticed RETed pointed out to someone that maybe his injectors are clogged...i just recently switched to premix at every fill up. ive been using SC-3 and TC-3 rated oils, and are good for oil and fuel injected engines. does this mean my injectors are getting clogged up or what?

bad grounds? cuz theres no 3800 rpm stumble...

it still makes good power. you even get a feeling of being sucked into your seat in the lower RPMs... even 5th at 60 mph. more so at lower gears and slower speeds.

thanks
chris
