NY Stripped alternator bolt, Help & suggestions appreciated

So like an idiot [I] tried several times to losen my alternator bolt with a set of vice grips bc the belt was squeeking and it never broke the bolt loose but kept eating away @ the tread. While driving today the belt finally flew off while shifting @ about 7k. The head of the screw is completely spripped and the vice grips don't even bite anymore.... Any suggestions before I bitch out and take it to a shop?? I read the welding a nut to it is the best bet but I don't have access to a welder :-/
