Stock 93 FD roadtrip.
I'm looking at buying a car in California. Its a 93 rx7 Touring model 69000 miles. The guy says it is completely stock. What I really want to know it is, would it be smart to drive it back to the Midwest? Should I pack a roadside kit. Example: specialty tools that I might need roadside, oil for premix. I plan on bringing a fire extinguisher.

It's really your call.
Check the car out throughly and if you can get the normal fluids and maintenance done there.
get AAA and go for it.

i would say definitely have some 2 stroke oil with you to premix any fillups just in case of an OMP failure. better safe than sorry. and just typical roadside assistance items would be smart.

I think it would be mighty brave of you to drive a totally "unknown to you" rotary a long distance. I'm not saying the car is incapable, however we have failures on these cars every day, despite our best efforts of keeping on top of them!
The cost to rent a car hauler is likely cheaper than what you would spend in poor gas mileage + preventative maintenance done by a local shop that you could have done yourself in your garage + the possibility of an unforeseen breakdown/repair. That's just some food for thought. If you do decide to go for it, at least do oil/coolant swap and a AAA membership. Good luck.

Ya ,I was going to mention that any car I got was usually trailered or towed to the house so I could personally go over it,and then do my "thing" to it before it got onto the road again...Even though I may have test driven it before I would want to know exactly what it was like mechanically.
I've been through my "bullet proof" phase so now that I am older I go through the "what if" phase.
Seeing I can influence that,I make sure I stay upright and breathing by driving a safe car!
I still PASS Miss Daisy though....haha!

Thanks. It sold. I don't know what part of the country as of yet I'm getting one in. It changes daily sometimes (hourly others). Mixed emotions as of latley of weather the journey of just simply buying one is worth it. Everyone I'm looking at sells within 24 hours. Nobody has given me a chance as of yet. The next day I can get somewhere where a FD RX7 is might be the day I own one. I'll never see one here in Nebraska. It's making me sick seeing these cars go by when I could have gotten one months ago........bummed out for sure. Life lesson time.

I don't trust anyone with $15-20k in any form. Especially when I cannot see it. There will be a 7 left for me. Just found a CYM low boost stock twins, MB stock twins stock boost, a single turbo white one.

There'd be No way in hell I'd be shipping cash to someone for a car that I cannot inspect or touch!
I look at buying cars like "the thrill of the hunt" and drive to see the car..
Even If the car is a piece of crap,I don't fret. I make the trip into something else..like go to a local attraction,go shopping,go eat at some freaky place..
The only way I deal is up close and personal.
Sure the ADS are real nice...fantastic photography,etc..but it doesn't show or tell you anything that you will get into.
And you can bet your *** that If it is too good to be true it usually is.
I expect crap..and when it turns out better than crap then I get interested.
