lol'z i'm not in this, am I? I never said anything remotely close to "chics and how they know nothing". But anyways, i'm happy to see you learning and that you are going about it the right way (buying the rx manual). Also its good to see we got though to you. (although a lot of it sounded like slams , if it did then they were not intentianal). Now you can be a proud owner of a ur shinny red rx7. <- doest it feel better

I told you those guys ripped you off. If it's true about them forgeting to finish what they started then they shouldn't be working on cars ever again. Man I would be so pissed. You seriosly need to find another shop fast. Sounds like you're going to have alot more problems in the future so better start looking now!

you might "See" coolant, but is it topped off. the sensor is in the top of the radiator so if it goes below that, or low enough to when you turn goes lower then the sensor, then your light will come on. so get some distilled water and top it off. other then that it could be a loose connection. they could have caught/tugged on the wiring etc when installing the engine. you need to figure it out though, before you toast another motor.

Since i haven't gotten the manuel yet (i'll be getting it this Thurs.) where do i look to find whether there is a loose connection? The car came with a manual but its not very thorough..so relying on that won't get me far..
yea those mechanics SHOULDN'T be working on cars at all..so once i get that manual i'm going to drain the oil and everything else (except the power-stearing since there wasn;t any in there to begin with) and do it myself..i don't know what these people did..so i'm just going to go over what they "did". I'm definitely going to get on top of that "add coolant" light problem..i dont want another engine overheated...lol
So..until then...i add distilled water right? ok...this may sound dumb but...where? where the coolant cap is or the pump?
Thanks for giving me another change guys..

Hey Lilrx7chic,

I too had my GSL-SE engine replaced by a shop. Will never do that again. They did a terrible job and it cost me a ton of money. I am now rebuilding the engine myself the right way. As for the coolant, you will want to top off the radiator. There is a silver cap on top with a red lever. Pull the lever up and then push a turn the cap (like a childproof cap on medicine). Add some distilled water to top off. Replace cap, push red lever back down. There is also a reserve tank next to the radiatior (clear plastic bottle on passenger side) there are marks on the side. The fluid level should be between those two marks. You will get this all figured out. It just takes a little time. Good luck!

Yeah Lilrx7,

Let me know how it goes. If I wasn't clear or something you can pm me or whatever and I will try to help you out. I am glad that you are trying to learn the car. We all started out with more simplistic tasks at some point like changing oil, topping off coolant, etc. As long as you stay with it, you will be able to do just about any repair to your car. Is it the Hayes manual that you are getting? I would recommend it. It will take you though step by step in doing nearly any possible repair to your 7. Well, once again good luck with both your car and classes.

for the sensor, it should be at the top center of the radiator. two wires coming out of it going to a plug. then so on and so forth through the wiring loom. i'm guessing you are a tad low on coolant though, so lets try that first.

hey guys whats up? Well...i topped off the coolant with some distilled water like you said GSL..so far, things are ok...and i looked at the sensor..it had the wrong clip on it...that could of also caused the light to turn on...the sensor was off...because there was coolant in the pump and radiator...so i cut off the clip, attached it to the other part that it was clipped to and wrapped some electric tape around it so that it can be protected...i was told to check the water pump and something else..i can't think up the name at the moment...damnit..well, anyway..i have it written down and marked in the Haynes manuel (yea i got it) so i'm going to take it over there on my next day off.
So far...things overall are looking up...there are a few things here and there that need to be replaced but its not causing any damage.
Someone ran into my passener side front fender a couple of days ago in school..i wasn't even in the car...it was parked...lol...does anyone know a good body shop around town (Kissimmee-Orlando) thas good and affordable??
TAke Care every1..

Once again,.......... you might wanna try it yourself, or atleast some of it. You can find a fender really cheap on a site like (my fav) www.car-parts.com go there and look up your fender thats probably the most expensive part. Then its up to you as to how you wanna go about the paint job, but buying the fender off of a used rx (i think i found one there for mine for like 39 bucks!!!) will save u money. Other then that u only pay for paint job (or just paint, if u can find someone todo it for two packs and a candy bar ) Anyways, that should save u some major bucks.

P.S. its not hard to install a fender ur self and will save lots of $bling bling$ if u do.

P.S.S if the guy who hit u is fixing it, get an estimate, get the check and run. That extra dow for school is useful (i know, i'm a student 2)

Is it normal for a car to stall while its warming up?

no. in cold or damp weather, rotories can be difficult to start sometimes. i had to use the pedal this morning on my 91. once started though, it shouldn't die.

Hey guys whats up...well, the car is working ok..except for yesterday. I turned on the car and it made this weird loud noise when i turned the ignition..i didn't even turn it on long enough to hear what or where the sound was coming from...i turned it on again and it didn;t make the noise but it felt like the car was hesitating to turn on. I turned it off..then i turned it on again and the rpm's went all the way up to 5000 for about a min. or two while it was warming up and then it went back down..i went to the manual and it didn't mention anything like what happened...has this happened to anyone and if so, what the HELL is that??
I fixed the sensor in my car and the light still comes on..so, either the thermostat or the radiator cap needs to be replaced or there's STILL a leak in one of the hoses....
Well..i'm in school now so i'll talk to u later.
Bye

see if it does it again. my gf's gsl-se does that now. goes to about 5k for 1-2 min then it goes into rev cycling for a while. we still haven't figured it out and the shop she took it to hasn't been much of a help either. your coolant leak should be easy to spot if its a hose or something.
