starting problems

When I go to start my car most of the time the starter will clik once then nothing. And when it does work its like its not turning the motor fast enough to start. Could the starter be going? Everything else has power. Checked all the grounds. Not sure what else to do. This is on an 89 n/a

how strong is the battery? have it checked.

make sure both terminals are clean and making good contact. if (and when) that checks out, if it's still doing what you describe, then you can look to the starter.

if it is the starter, sometimes you can pull it apart, clean the brushes, reassemble it and it will be as good as new. other times it will simply need to be replaced/rebuilt.

Already did the battery. Just put a brand new optima in it with new cable ends all the way around. I had the battery tested when I got it too. Just to make sure I wasn't getting a bad one. The starter is the only thing I have checked. Was gonna pull it out tomorrow if it's nice.
