smog stuff

I was wondering a while back there was talk about new/revisions to the smog laws in california. That they were going to get rid of the 30 year law, and make it so that all cars needed to get smoged.

Also there were plans to make a street racing law that was really left to interpetation. It said some thing to the effect that if a police officer saw or even suspected that your car was meant for street racing that they could impound and even smash your car without trail.

Have either of these been put into place? Cause I've been hearing about this stuff for awhile and well, I'm starting to think that our worries as car guys are getting the best of us. Are there organizations that help protect our car interests? Or are these threats really that bad, and we all need to continue to send letters as we hear about "new" developments concerning smog/race?

PLEASE NOTE: I do not approve of street raceing, but I do beleive a person should be able to work on their car, even if just to make it looks like it races. That racing should only be done at the tracks

Yes they got rid of the 30 year smog law the cutoff date is now 1976 and older... Everything newer will always require smog..

im not sure about them smashing your car for street racing.. but i know that the 3rd offense they take your car and you forfeit it to the state and they auction it off.. that is what ive heard.. im pretty sure you can go to your local PD. and get some kind of book or something that will give you motor vehicle laws..
