slotted/ crssdrilled rotors

I have turned the slotted ones without any problems and I have never had a cross drilled rotor last long enough to be turned. these look cool on street cars but were developed for specific racing situations. on a race car the drilled rotors tend to crack in between the drilled holes and last only a short period time. these rotors also reduce pad life dramaticly. before switching to larger calipers and rotors for my turbo II race car I would replace the pads(Hawke blue's) and cross drilled rotors every 3-4 hours of race time. I never used the slotted rotors on this car but they tend to last longer on our sister car, about 10-12 hours. if they are not cracked they should be able to be turned on a standard brake lathe.

I've heard lots of people say that x-drilled rotors tend to crack easily and such, and I don't doubt that I guess, but I have had x-drilled rotors on my 90 GTU( I still do) and I have them on my 87 16v GTI, and I have never had them crack on me. I've never had them turned though.

if your only using them on the street they will probably last as long as a standard rotor. I have a set with one 3 hour enduro on them and every hole has 10 or 12 cranks and in some spots pieces of the rotor are missing. it all depends on how you are using them.
