Situation with front strut. Any advice?

I heard squeaking under the hood after a nice bumpy ride on the freeway. After opening the hood I found that me strut assembly was gone. Looks like the tread is stripped. I can't imagine how this happened where the bolt just popped of.

The struts are basically new. My guess is that whoever installed them (before I bought them) stripped it. I am not sure if I should rethread it and use another bolt or buy a new strut assembly.

If I buy a new strut assembly, do the bolts and top bushing come with the new struts?

Any advice? Similar stories?

Looks like the bolt was not properly tightened and slowly walked out. Threads look messy but not totally destroyed. Re threading and using the correct nut should suffice. If in doubt double nut. Don't forget if possible use an impact gun or torque to spec.
