I'm in the process of installing my new short shifter for my fd and I have removed my center console and shifter boot. Then I got to my shifter assembly and removed the 4 12mm bolts. Everyone one says it just comes off. However mine is not, I tried prying it off but it's really held on to my transmission. Is there a bolt or lock mechanizme I am missing?

 

If the sealant has a good grip, you will have to pry it off very hard. May even need to "chisel" a screwdriver or prybar between the shifter top and the trans. You aren't missing anything, it's only 4 bolts and sealant.
