Share how you passed emissions inspection

Someone please put a sticky on this. This thread is to help the poor souls (like me) who must endure emmissions inspections. How did you get your RX-7 to pass? Did you use a shady mechanic- how did it work? Did you use a GM electric air pump? How did the install go? Everyone needs to pitch in with both questions and answers.

this is a good idea ... wish i had detailed info or a formula to provide, but sadly, i don't.

all i can say is either modify your car with emissions laws in mind, or be prepared to pass some money under the table. i mean, use common sense, too. don't remove the rat's nest and air pump and then scratch your head wondey why when the emissions machine has a coronary after taking in your exhaust fumes.

just an aside ... Maxwell, is that car in your siggy having trouble passing emissions?

No, my car passed emissions fine (with a high flow cat). I might be buying a single turbo FD and will therefore have no air pump, egr, acv.

well ... i see you're located in Manassas, and from your siggy, i will assume that you've familiarized yourself with Peter Farrell. why don't you get some thoughts/advice from him (or his people) and post it here for everyone.

hell, you can even PM it to me and i'll write it up if you're not up to typing it all.

why not install an airpump just for the emissions check? It would help a little, but then you simply remove it afterwards!!

You could even probably get away with using some of those 12v tyre inflators hooked up into the exhaust!

well... if you have friends that are mechanic ask them to check it for you... they'll be lenient on the visual inspection... but make sure your car passes smog test...

Well search the forum there were a few poasts in the archives about this. However if your too lazy just add some methanol to your tank, it doesnt take much either litre per 1/2 tank i think works. You wont feel the power but are you really gonna be racing ricers when your taking your emmisions test:P

Once I passed like this: my mechanic adjusted my car so it ran like **** (he calls it an emissions tune-up) and then he put it back to normal after I passed.
The other time: I gave the guy $30 and he told me to come back in 45 mins. when the cameras reset and I ran 1000 units pollution when the max was like 200 and I passed ! Good luck. In Florida they did away with emissions, research indicated that black bean & rice farts are responsible for the hole in the ozone layer and not stinky RX7s.
