Schmoooookin!

"Baby" aka "Smoke Bomb" 89 RX-7 GXL Non-Turbo Fuel Injected 13B Motor 212,000 miles.

Ok well it's obvous she smokes but when I start her up she single handedly causes a 1st stage smog alert. Right now I'm looking at my options and what to do. Since I'm an absolute newbie to both this board and RX's in general please be gentile with the answers to my questions. Oh, BTW I did do a search which only netted a few select results. So please don't beat me too much

Symptoms:
On start up she causes a 1st stage smog alert oil smoke just pours out of the exhaust. Now, after warming up this will subside to a "normal" oil burn or just dissappear all together. Other times like for instance this morning she didn't smoke at all when I started her but up above that infamous 4K barrier she started bellowing smoke like a 1910 tramp steamer. So I'm figuring there is just something not quite right with the oil injection system. Am I on the right path here? Or am I going to be ambushed by some rotorary headed monster?

Alrighty, what are my likely options? I'm the second owner of "Baby" and I know she has recieved the best care an RX of her vintage could possibly recieve. Now with that in mind, what could be my causes for the excessive smoking problem she has?

Possible solutions I have avalible to me are:

Rebuilding/resealing the motor myself. Is this easy like piston engines?

Swapping in another 13b engine. Can I do this with an older/newer one and just swap over my current FI junk?

I have heard about some sort of oil injector that sometimes goes haywire. Is this an easy fix? That is if it exists.

Any possible tricks and/or additives that might help the problem? at least until I can afford to swap in another engine or possibily purchase a rebuilt motor?
