RX7 as a Rally car

Deciding against road course racing for rallying. Can rx-7's do well in rallying or not? I know that a RWD will be the toughest to drive but its here now so...

there are a lot of FC rally RX-7s. such as Rod Millen's Pike's Peak record holding RX7... but then was beaten by his son Rhys Millen

well given the drivedrain issue, the rx-7 would be a better road racing car than rallying. however, it could be used for rallying, but then again, anything could. but it would be fun as hell! personally, i think that the fc is actually best suited for auto-x since it has great handling. it's weakness on a road course is the sheer lack of power for long staights. in auto-x, there are no long starights, thus eliminating this. i know it kinda sounds like i'm bouncing all around, and i am, but the bottom line is that i think the fc wouldn't be good for either road racing or rallying (at least comparitively) but if i had to place bets, i'd say road racing, still either one would be hella fun.

ive only seen 2 second gens being used as a rally car, did 5th overall in the pikes peak in 1999 but the car was raised and the engine wasent the rotary!

http://www.rallye-info.com/carmodel.asp?car=139

however they say when rallying a rotary be sure to keep it twin turbo as it helps with the handling and out of the corners
