TLDR: Not sure if its good compression or any problem. My first time buying RX7 and want to make sure its good.
I want to but R7x and looked up some charts on the compression and what I found is that its good from from 7 to 9. But what I was told this car has and I quote "compression is in the 6s". The guy that I want to buy from is selling it for approx 18 000 dollars. which is little suspicious to me. The car looks good, it has clean history, no crashes recorded, insurance OK. But still the price is almost half of what RX-7 FD3S is especially when he has genuine rocket bunny kit on it, new air filters and cooling from Greddy, Veilside Marriot wheels. I know this is not 8gen . what I found it is 6th gen if I am correct. And dont know if it has different compression or different problems. He also encourages to take it to any local shop to make test or look on car before buy which is transparent from him to hide any problem.
Let me direct you to some good threads with info on compression. Here's the main FAQ with lots of good archived threads on just about everything FD related: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...l-links-68640/ in there just do Ctrl-F and search for compression. It is described pretty well.
A compression in the 6s is a red flag since you want at least 7. The price is suspiciously low, especially with all the mods. The seller's okay with inspections, which is a plus, but definitely get a compression test done to be safe.
the shop manual has 7.0 adjusted for cranking speed and altitude as the MINIMUM, so compression in the 6's means the engine is worn out.
price accordingly...
Thank you everyone for the help. It would mean not to get it its better to invest for 8th gen and with good compression. Thought it might have been steal as sometimes you but looks like not. Wish you all good days and long running cars
