Thumbs down Running To Rich Gsl-se

My 85 GSL-SE is running rich, I've changed the O2 sensor. A so called Rx7 mechanic suggested changing the ecu and I did and still rich. I've changed the spark plugs, magnecor 10mm R100 spark plug wires. Changed oil and oil filter. Air Flow Meter is good passed the resistance test in the Haynes Manual. The water termo sensor passed the resistance test too. the CAT is the original three cat, but I'm changing it soon after I solve the rich condition problem. I changed some parts in the ACV, but not the whole thing. The Fuel level gauge when I put a load on the car the level raises, after a 1/2 mile down the road the fuel level drops down.

I have a feeling it might be my injectors, but my car is not shaking on idle or while i'm accelerating. Fuel Economy is bad on my car, but have gotten better after changing some parts. I can't pass the CA emission test cause high CO and HC reading NOX is good. the O2 sensor is reading about.85v when i raise the rpm. Please help...

there are 5 parts to the emissions system
1. the tps
2. the airpump
3. air control valve
4. cats
5. the solenoids that run the acv

if any one of those are bad it wont pass smog

Do you know where I can get a Bonez competition exhaust for cheap. My fuel economy is bad, could you explain if the injectors are leaking how the engine would behave?

Does anybody have a good hook up for the Bonez exhaust system for the 1st gen. The only place I know right now is rx7.com sells it, but if anyone knows where I can buy it cheaper than $245 please respond or email me, just get in contact with me.

Thanks

Marques

A sure sign of leaky injector is that you will smell fuel around the vehicle when you stop driving. Also, if you're running the vents, the incoming air will smell strongly of fuel. This is due to placement of the vent inlet at the front edge of the windscreen.

In any case, if you look under the intake system and above the intake manifold inlet to the engine, you may see fuel pooled up in the crevices of the gasket. This is a sign that your injector(s) are leaking and will need to be replaced in short timeframe. If you notice, directly below the intake manifold is the exhaust manifold which gets very hot, and heat plus fuel is a very bad combination. Mazdatrix website has some pictures out there of what happens when the Pulsation Dampner goes out and sprays fuel that catchs fire.

On my 84SE, the first injector seal went out at about 115k miles, then the second injector body developed a crack at 161k, which I am dealing with right now. Replaced it, but car won't idle well, which brings me to your thread. Hope this helps,

I see traces of coolant and fuel and gunk under the intake chamber, just a horrible sight, but did some slight cleaning which helped. But thank god my pulsation dampers are good.

The injectors was really cheap at the junk yard, two where $2 with 20% discount day when I got it. this carb and fuel injector place tried to sell me a 680cc tomco fuel injectors for $40 dollars, would that have been a good deal? Really appreaciate all your replys

Agreed - go buy them - I'll buy those Tomco's from you if you don't need them! Seriously, get offline and get in the car...
