Rough Starts and pulsing

I own an 88 gxl and my baby has some problems. When I go to start my car it sometimes starts with no problems but sometimes it doesnt. I am letting it sit properly too. By this I mean I wait 20 to 30 seconds to turn off the car. The way I haveto start it up though is by doing the engine injection fuse trick. My engine is also a new engine. I am thinking though that it could be my secondary injectors since when I get passed 3000 rpm after a cold start the engine pulses as if it were not getting enough gas. But once the car is warmed up this goes away but the starting problem doesnt, it seems to be more random. I have also noticed that in the summer time I never had this problem but in the cold winters in MI it doesnt seem to like it. Any help would be appreciated. Matt

Its could be multiple things with our cars. If it is a rebuild or mazda reman then it isnt a new engine, but one that has new seals put in and they often flood for the first few hundred miles while it builds good compression. But if it is a new engine I would think it shouldn't do it, I would talk to who put it in and make sure they have the timing and tps set correctly.

Other things can contribute to flooding out besides compression, i had a weak starter that would turn it over barely enough to start and sometimes it wouldnt be enough and the engine would flood out. Starter sounded good, but turned out it wasnt. Also a good charge helps a rotary start, it is a must :P. Anyhow, check the basics first before you start going too far and replace things. Check your timing, then TPS, and if both are good have someone test out your starter. If all check out, then do a compression test. If compressions is good and all others were good I Would look at the injectors. They may be leaking.

Anyhow, thats a few starters. Good luck.
