rotor housing fix?

In my engine theory class the teacher mention some type of teflon patch they would put onto the skirt of a piston in a piston engine. Could the same be done to a rotor housing?

::edit i found the page its a moly coating but looks like teflon

I heard of it being done on a rotor housing. There was a thread about it a long time ago. Big debate as to whether it was worth the money/effort. There wasn't much info about it being widely used, or how reliable it is.
