Thumbs up rotary engine in a chevy s-10... i think i can be done

i have this crazy idea... i have the chance to get a chevy s-10 1st generation..... i have a spare running gsl-se motor... you guys think it could be possible to put the rotary in the s-10?.. i think with some fabricating of motor mounts and a tranny mount and a custom driveshaft it could be done... of course the s-10 is a bit heavy but it is a good canidate for weight reduction (ie: fiberglass hood fenders etc)

i wanna hear your input on my idea, and dont give me that "dont discrace the rotary by putting it in a chevy"

i would love to one day have a turbo II s-10 to haul my soon to be turbo II fb...

This is one of the less visited sections of the forum, so you probably won't get much of a reaction here. There is another section where people who put rotaries in other vehicles, (or other motors in RX-7s) get together. To answer your questions/comments, a you can put any engine in anything with the proper amount of money, skill, and resources. I've seen people race bar stools with lawnmower engines on them. With the right gearing, a S-10 would haul *** with a rotary in it. Especially if its got forced induction like a turbo, supercharger, or the laughing gas. I knew a guy who put one in a Mazda B-2200 which is about the same size as an S-10, and mazda had a 13B in the REPU, Rotary Engine Pick Up. Weight reduction would definately help. With trucks like that, it would do good as a low rider like this guys was cause the lower the vehicle and engine are to the ground, the better handling it will have. Good luck with your project.

The "Other Rotary" section may have people who have rotary engines in different vehicles, and my be able to point you further along in the task of swapping the motor into another type of car.

Jose Zeda, in Haughton Louisiana has a 3 rotor S10 blazer drag car. He has also put a rotary in a Samurai. I think he recently took it to a "chevy" show.

I've seen one in a Samuri. The guy used it for rock climbing, which has a bit of a following in this area.

In a S-10 , torque is what you want more than H.P. and one of those 4.3's can put out as much if not more torque than a 400 H.P. rotary.
