replacing fuel pump and fuel filter question

i'm pretty much stuck right now because i do not know how to stop the fuel pressure. i checked out my fsm and it said to refer to f-95 and said these steps. the problem is my motor is already out. is there anything i should do to stop the pressure in the lines or can i just take out the filter and pump or will fuel splash everywhere?

there shouldn't be any pressure in the lines if the motor is out. the stuff that leaks out is just from gravity.

I may be too late to help you with this one but check out http://www.robrobinette.com/ it has lots of helpful hints with things such as changing the stock fuel filter.....which is kinda a pain in the butt....

Just pull the fuel lines off, but have a rag over the end to catch any fuel, or prevent any spray if pressurized.
