I thought that this post was worthy of a new thread because i think it can help out quite a few people. OK FINALLY I GOT THE LOCK BOLT OUT!!! if anyone ever is thinking of rebuild an engine themselves this post will probably come in handy. If you dont have a flywheel, the motor is out of the car and u cant stop the eccentric shaft from turnning then here is the solution. first get a 19mm 1/2" drive socket ($5)and get an 18" long breaker bar ($28). then buy 4ft of 1" tubing(like $6). now you have a sufficient way to apply enough torque. the next thing is how to stop the rotation. get a piece of oak wood and use a dremel to trim it to teh size of the exhaust port and put it in the front rotor and turn the eccentric shaft till it stops. now the next hardest thing is how to hold down the motor. the way i did it was find some sturdy fence gates and put down 2 pieces of wood and set the engine on them. line up the 2 engine crane hook things on the engine with the posts and use 2 ratchet tie down straps and attach them to the bottom of the posts and tighten them. now have some one sit on the top of the surge tank assembly (where the throttle body is). you dont need someone very heavy because i used my mom and she weighs maybe 135lbs and break loose the bolt! the most satisfying feeling ever! it will sound like sumthing broke but it is just the seal and that 180-200ft lbs of torque coming loose. so yeah there ya go i hope at least someone else can benefit from this and doesnt have to go through the trouble i did.

I wouldn't do it this way as there is a chance of breaking off a apex seal, no wi did do this once to remove the bolt on a motor but it was one with a destroyed rotor and thats the one i shoved a big *** screwdriver in.

The best solution is to throw it in the back of a running vehicle, take it to your local truck repair shop with their 1" impact wrenches fed with huge air hoses, and let them zip it off.

It takes, literally, under 10 minutes to drive up, have them zip the flywheel nut & front pulley nut off, and take a sledge & prybar to the flywheel to pop it free.

I suppose your method is good too. :-)

The apex seals shouldn't be bothered - if you've trimmed the wood right, all the pressure will be on the face of the rotor, and the apex seal won't even be touching the wood.
