removing solinoid rack
Dave,
Are you still having trouble getting the rack out?
Here is what I know, the solenoid rack is sitting on studs and to clear the studs the fuel injectors are in the way, you will need to remove the fuel rail and the ignition coil assembly. A lot of people have reported ~8 hrs of work. It took me a good 6 hrs to do this.
Here is another home made solution, but please note, I am not guaranteeing the results. Take a dremmel tool and grind down the studs that the rack is sitting on by about 0.5 in (or just enough to clear the injectors) and you'll save yourself at least 2 if not 3 hours of pain.
Oh, and don't forget to leave the bolds on when grinding so you can refinish the thread after the grind. Good luck!

To make it easier on yourself, remove the alternator, air pump, and air control valve. You shouldnt have to remove the fuel rail and injectors. I didnt.
DONT FORGET TO LABEL EVERYTHING YOU DISCONNECT!!!!!
Anyway, good luck...my car is still sitting, waiting to be put back together...

I did it! It was pretty easy. I removed the alternator to get the front screws off and I didn't even have to take the back screws off. I just loosened the fuel rail just enough for the solinoid rack to squeez out. Now I got the rack sitting on my kitchen table, I just gotta do all hoses and hope I remember how to put everything back. Wish me luck.
