Quick question about high revs in neutral

Is there anything bad about bringing the revs way up in neutral with no load on the engine? I was explaining to my father in a conversation how smooth the revs are if you take it way up in neutral and he seemed to think it might be bad for the engine with no load on it. I would think that the natural non-recipricating nature of the engine and absence of moving parts wouldn't give cause for any problems, but I'm not certain. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Well I can't think of any reason why it would be bad just as long as you have the correct fuel mixture and oil getting to the rotors
