questions about rx-7

Hi,

Sorry if this thread isn't in the right place this forum seemed most appropriate. Ok heres the questions. I just recently sold my 2000 Camaro Z28 and I've been car shopping. I came across a 1994 Rx-7 Efini Type-R that appeals to me. The thing is I know absolutely nothing about Rx-7's so I was wondering if anyone could shoot me in the right direction by telling me general specs on this car like what type-R and efini is. Also, I'm a college student and I don't want something thats going to constantly have problems. Are these cars known to have serious problems or are they some what reliable. I know these questions are rather broad but any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jake

efini is what its called in japan, there is a spirit R which is also japaneese. there are the R1 which is a suspension package that doesnt have a sun roof. How many miles are on the car/engine, what has been done to it, and fo you have lots of money to invest if something were to go wrong?

I saw this on E-bay. Car is listed in Ft. Lauderdale right? It's a scam. I'll answer your questions though in case you ever think of looking at another Rx-7.

3rd Gen Rx-7s (1993-1995 US) do frequently have problems, ESPECIALLY if they are modified.

If you want to learn more about the car, read up here: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/

Lol, I apologize for even starting this thread after reading up I've realised how irritated people get with newbie questions.

As for the reply sikopathx, what do you mean by the car is a scam. That does seem cheap but do you have any information to back your assumption?

Thanks for your help,
Jake

That is extremly cheap for what it has in it. But with that kind of setup I wouldn't expect it to run more than 80-100k tops. The FD is not known for longivity. BUT, I would still give my left nut for one.
