how much does it cost to have a mechanic replace my front cat ? ( 1987 Mazda rx 7 non turbo ) also since this part has a whole in it and has to be replaced what l already have with something more high end ? Or can I eliminate the front cat and just be done with it and straight pipe to the exhaust ?

 

just punch it out, if you have emissions in your state the main cat can still do the job of letting you pass.

the stock precats are nla, theyre veryyyyy expensive and aftermarket cats cannot survive in that location.

 

you can also get a Downpipe that eliminates the Precats and attaches at the manifold to the Main Cat..(Racing Beat part)

 

most of the racing beat headers are proprietary lengths and are made to use other racing beat components. at least that's been my experience, just be careful about what headers you order and whether they will fit to the stock cat or not.
