Pitted surface under water seals- filling ideas?

On my centre plate there is some corrosion around where the inner water seals presses against the surfaces.

I have given the plate a really good clean then I carefully painted some Dinitrol rust convertor into the corrosion marks.

I'll leave that overnight and then I'm thinking of putting metal bonding epoxy into the pitting so I can sand it down smooth and then there wont be any pitting under water seal. Sound good?
The pitting appears to be on each side of where the seals sit- not directly under except maybe in one small area.
Any advice on products or methods would be great. I was going to use some blue Hylomar on reassembly - I have read this else where and been recommended by a friend but I want to fill the worst of the pits first.

Its going to leak.............. the only way you can fill it would be to slowly spot weld it with (small tacks joined together) with a high content nickel weld wire or tig welder, you can have it plasma sprayed as well but, with all repairs you will have to grind and lap the surface to properly finish the face plate.how about you just replace the face plate with a good one If you can't find one let me know I have all kinds....Fred

I agree with 959595rotor , that housing is too far gone unless it gets milled and lapped. For the $ you are best to toss it out and use a housing in better shape. I would never build a motor with a housing like that.

sorry mate looks like she's heading for the bin, ps think of all the time, you will save by not having to put it together then take it apart again as you waste your black water jacket o rings and some tension bolt rubbers , then have to put it together once again,

I just rebuilt a 12A with pitting not as bad as this and it still leaked. It was so bad that it pressurized the cooling system. Water was pouring out the exhuast when running. Scrap the iron, it not worth it.
