one rotor shutoff on idle

so heres the deal:

at idle, the engine only runs on one rotor.
and this only occurs at idle. any time i have my foot on the throttle, its business as usual.
to make things more interesting, this problem isnt constant. what i mean by that, is that for a couple weeks it will idle on one rotor, then for some reason it will start to idle on 2 rotors like normal for a while.

the engine?

Disclaimer...
*I am have no clue what the issue is, and claim no expertise or knowledge that is useful for your rotary or situation*

In other words take with a generous serving of salt...and consult an expert...(not me)...

So since the eccentric shaft is still spinning, both rotors would still be spinning at idle, so I would guess that your not getting combustion during idle on one rotor.

Perhaps an issue with fuel delivery or an issue with spark, maybe not enough juice to ignite all plugs.

Have you checked your spark plugs, are they fouled up?
Have you checked to make sure the jets are not clogged up?
Do you have any ignition upgrades?
How is the voltage readings on alternator/battery?
How is the tension on the pulley to the alternator, any slippage?

Good luck!

I would have to say ignition sounds like the culprit. sounds like CYD was right. as the shaft still spins the rotor is still in motion but your not getting ignition for some reason. when you are on the throttle your alternator is spinning faster and putting out more power so perhaps it's a seriouse amperage drop your experiencing.

just like above.

I am no expert, certainly not on rotaries. I drive a solid axle tacoma, can't buy a 7 until i'm done with medic school, but this is what i would look at if one of my stupid friends called me on the phone and said diagnose this problem without being here. they do it all the time. good luck.

i assumed it had to be some kind of ignition problem. so i'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks that.

the plugs are fine, but not sure about the plug wires.
i checked all my ignition wires, and re ran a couple that looked questionable.
seems to run fine for now.

thanks guys.
