Oil Light Came On While Engine Is Running?

Hey I have an 1980 rx7 that was sititng for the past 10 yrs. Anyhow I did my atf trick already let it sit and then I try to start it and it smoke like crazy but I know y after the engine is already running the oil light came on so I shut it off and check it, It need some oil so I add whatever needed and restart the car but it still smoke alot white smoke. It possible to damage the engine like that? Please it's been a while seen I finally got my hand on a nice clean 1st gen. Khris

When the oil light comes on while idling, that shouldnt hurt anything too much. If it were under a load, like DRIVING, then that would be bad.

If its still smoking the ATF is probably not completely burned off. Especially if its been sitting that long. It needs a good run to clean it out. A few redline runs and some good "spirited" driving (between 3500-6000). Make sure shes ready for it, check the cooling system and fan clutch.

It took about 15-20 minutes with the engine at about 3-4k rpms to burn out the ATF that got into my exhaust.
