newbie help.

I am new to the rotory scene, but am looking at purchasing a FD in hopes to keep up with my friends supra tt in the near future. he is pushing about 450hp at the wheels. i have about 20g's to spend so i was looking to spend about 10-12 on an un modded one. with around 7-9 grand left for mods how close do you think i can come on 95 octane.

pretty close.

turbo kit ~3k
ems~2500
intercooler~1000
fuel ~700
exhaust~1000
radiator, etc ~500

depending on what you find used, what you do yourself, and what you get charged for labor if you have it done, you should be able to do that for around 7-10k. i'm in hte middle of doing a buildup for a guy right now that's running around 13k, but 3k of it was the motor...if you have a good motor to begin with, might as well use it. he's also adding a bunch of bling, so lots of money went there too.

Large street port singles around here put down 425ish to the wheels.

My 295hp at 12psi (stock motor stock turbo) will beat my friends 450 hp poopra when I crank the boost to 16 psi....butt dyno says 320ish hp?? But thats only if I launch perfectly. He has a lot more room for screw ups than I.

His boost is around 20.

My mods:
Intake
DP
High flow cat
3" cat back
large intercooler
vented hood
water injection
power fc
big rad
(and others not related to power)

estimated cost..prolly around 20k including the car and misc repairs

I hope you have surplus money on the side. Having a high horsepower 13b FD, may cause some problems later down the road.

Dang Supra!!! Strong motor that can take a lot of boost. Just dont try to run him on the freeway.

Well a Supra weighs significantly more than a FD you wont need 450whp to keep up with it. You can probably keep up with just 400whp. In any case u'll have to replace your turbos. I've not heard of anyone getting more than 340whp on stock turbos w/ 14 psi (anything more is really unsafe for a stock motor). But to get 400whp and keeping your car running safe ur going to need:

turbo kit
intake
down pipe
midpipe
exhaust
bigger fuel injectors (secondary)
fuel pump
ignition amplifier
intercooler
radiator
ecu

all that will run you close to 7k if not over when u include install and tuning. You might want to check out those power kits that shops sell at like rx7store or pettit racing, SRmotorsports, they have kits that claim to get u near that hp.
