New and need help

Hello forum im new to rotory engines wondering if i could get some help.

I have a N/A 1986 rx7

First question is dumb i just cant find the answer.

i bought new spark plugs and wire for my car but i dont know which wire goes to wich corrisponding coil. From what i can understand the spark plug wires have different resistances or something like that but anyhow i bought the car and someone messed with the wires before i got to them so i just need a picture or something indicated the correct placement of the wires

the second this is that my car idles irractically. It will bounce between 1250 and 1500 rpms. Now i have througly check for obvious intake leakes and i cant find any. I also hooked my tps to a volt meter and ajusted it to read the right reading 1 ohm at idle and it reads like 5.36 at wide open throttle. Im going to replace my O2 sensor but i dont know if that is my affecting my idle as such. So if anyone has any suggestions PLEASE help this an irritating problem.

I will get you a pic here later tonight but your idle issue is a vaccume leak if your tps is good and has no dead spots. Could be a bad apex seal but you will need to do compression check to check that.

That would actually be alot of help

I think that by BAC valve might part if the problem. I actually replaced the tps with one that i found in the junk yard and it adjusted differently but now the battery is dead cause i kept killing somehow and then recharged it. I will have to compresstion check it again the first rotor i got 75 psi the second the battary was dieing so i dont think that i got an acurate reading.

Compression on rotaries works differently from piston engines. You need a special tester that only dealers and well-equipped rotary mechanics will have. You can also get a ballpark test by holding the valve open and watching the pulses, but this will only give a vague "pretty good" or "not very good" result. If you use a normal compression tester you'll only get the results of the best face on the rotor with no information on the other two. Anyway, it doesn't sound like a compression related problem to me.

is focused on the GSL-SE but the 2nd gen NA system is very similar. Some of the details are different but the system works in basically the same way.

Well I replaced the Bac valve and the car still operates erratically but when it heats up to operating temperature the car seems to idle normally. Now i realize that the car when you first start it up its supposed to idle high to warm up or whatever but it still bounces in idle till the car heats up. And now that i managed to get the car to at least idle correctly sometimes i know that it is not a compression problem.

But i still need assistance on the order of the spark wires. I know there off cause my car runs funny while accelerating. So pictures or even a stupid diagram like how they do vacuum lines in books would help.

P.S. when i took off the old bac valve one end where coolant was supposed to pass threw was completely plugged

In my sig line is a link to the online FSMs. Download whatever you need. The 87 manual has more info than the 86.
