I have never worked on rotaries before. I bought a build motor and I was playing around with it and notice that when I turn the shaft it turns freely for about 1/4 of the turn then you have to put a little effort to make it 1/2 out. This repeats it self every 1/2 a turn. Is this normal?

 

the effort you are felling is compression... Everything sounds pretty normal
