Question Need Tech help pls!!!

Working on breathing life into a recently purchased "dead" rx7 (1986 gxl...13B)

Managed to get it to fire up, and run....it hits 2000 rpm, then dies....

Is this a fuel pump problem....I dont hear the fuel pump charge up when I turn the ignition on...but when I turn the motor over it pumps....

I also tried plumbing a bottle of gas into the intake, the engine will hapily run (with very poor throttle response...of course) until the gas runs out...

am I correct in my fuel pump assumption??

see if the air flow meter is opening or not , the fuel pump is good idea also, disconnect the inlet line ,put it in a jug and prime with the yellow connector jumper wire trick to test the pump ,no fires now good luck

look for vacuum leaks.. these cars will die pretty easy with them.
