Exclamation need help, starting issue, check engine light, gas and spark but no air i assume?

heres my situation, just bought a gxl with a swapped turbo ii engine yesterday,

car ran great when i first got it, every couple minutes or so it would do a quick little bog, but not bad, just a half second loss of power or lag... didnt see it as much of a problem

get it all the way to my house in federal way from lynnwood, 2 hour drive, no over heating, no issues at all, and i get on my hill and i have a complete loss of power to the engine, it stays on but it felt like there was just no power going to the engine, i shifted down cause i thought i was in too high of gear and it did the same thing all the way down to first eventually died on me on the uphill and i could get it started, i decided to just roll down the hill and clutch start it cause i couldnt get it going, and the clutch start only started it for a few seconds and i couldnt give it any gas and it idled at 1k for about 10 seconds and died, i jumped it enough to get it home. now this is where im stuck

it wont start, itll turn over
rrr-rrr-rrr-rrrp-rrrp-rrrrp-rrp- rr- rr-rr- it gives off major smell of gas, i havent checked yet but im pretty sure i have spark, my assumption is the afr is wayy off. all gas and hardly any air? also my check engine light comes on, and throughout the drive home it would flick on and off in a pattern like on, on, stay on, off for 3 seconds, on, on stay on, off for 3 seconds. turbo seems to spool fine and kick in around 3k, when i was driving it drove fine.

it also backfired a couple times when i did get it started, i had to push on the gas pedal quite a bit to get it started. it will sometimes start if i press the gas pedal a little.

any and all help is muchly appreciated, and welcome.
need it fixed pretty soon.

its a pretty nice little s5 turbo though, id absolutly love it if it ran for beans... if not im turning to the darkside and putting a sr or ls1 in it. hahah so you better help me so that never happens.

maybe it's a sticky injector causing the momentary bog (brief flood), then maybe it finally stuck wide open resulting in a gas smell when cranking and not being able to start it

Just curious about the check engine light, if you have a swapped engine, why would it even work, i would have thought you would use a stand alone for this type of thing (but if you are using stock ecu or the TII ecu then i guess it would still function). Either way, a sticky injector momentarily flooding your engine could cause this intermittent problem.

You need to check the spark though, being pretty sure you have it isn't the same thing as having it.

thanks man appreciate it, i went and checked the ecu i got 14 codes and i looked them up, almost all the solenoids are not firing,
pres reg
sab
relief
switching
port air bypass
idle speed controll
accelerate warmup
turbo boost pressure

my theory behind this is theres a short or a ground somewhere or a plug thats no plugged in or jiggled loose

also my throttle sensor is not registering right for high or low
neither is my water thermostat, which inturn is causing my crank angle sensor to not fire.

also ill go check the spark right now,

and thanks i will check the injectors and see if there spraying at all or if there wide open.

im thinking maybe if i just do a whole new ecu? and make sure all the plugs are connected and theres no shorts or grounds i should be fine. cause that would explain almost all my problems.

what plugs are you running? what condition are they in?

was the car doing this with the previous owner who performed the swap? sounds like you may have to now go through and troubleshoot his/her work. i suspect that it will be tedious, but if the car is already running, albeit shitty, you shouldn't be too far from the mark.

so ive been working on it all day, im getting pretty stumped, i found a oxygen sensor that happened to be unplugged in the top of the manifold underneath the stock intercooler (how convenient) i plugged her in and she started right up, but now i have a low idle and have a bad smell of gas, so its obviously running rich, seems to me like i have a small boost leak cause a ghetto fab on the turbo to the intercooler, its two pipe that over lay and any back pressure surely leaks from it so im gonna take it to the metal shop tomorrow and wire feed it up, hopefully its a fix, also the idle is funky, it kinda bounces and just goes down and dies, anyone know why that might be?
also there ngk-r plugs, idk if those are stock but theyve been in all the 7's ive ever owned, its getting a good spark and you can tell that its pretty rich cause there covered in residue that just whipes off and smells like gas terrible. i put premium in it? would that do it? as far as i know they had 88 reg in it

and yea ive been going through there work, nasty job they did... jesus. plugs unplugged everywhere, power steering not even hooked up at all. its not that great. but lots of aftermarkets, oil cooler, koyo radiator, aem intake, hard pipes, ect ect, ran incredibly yesterday, but if anyone has a fix for my idle lemme know, im dicking with the idle control right now with the screw, the tighter the higher right?
