my car wont start

recently i bought an 91 rx7 from a guy who said that one morning he tried to start it and it wouldnt start..he said it sounded flooded... he wanted 600 dollars for the whole thing .. so i bought it and bought a new motor for it assuming he had a blown motor, or his seals blew.... but when we put the new one in it makes the same noise as the old one... when i try to start it, the motor is turning but the car wont start.. i think it may be a spark issue but i dont know what else to do..i checked the timing and bought new plugs... but still nothing... can someone please help...

welcome to the forum..Smirf..puzzled why you would change an engine without checking it..compression wise..if it was just flooded you wasted money changin the engine....the best thing to do right now is to read up on your engine..check the plugs ,see if they are wet..if so clean them..take the EGI fuse out and put your foot to the floor(it's an s5..fuel cut at WOT,crankin) and crank the engine 30 seconds..get a milkshake straw and put one straw full into the lower plug holes..roll over the engine 3 seconds..put the plugs back in CORRECT WIRE PLACEMENT..and jump in and see if it starts..don't use the gas pedal..this is deflood procedure..(i'm assuming every thing was hooked up correctly and the engine was installed properly,correctly..)..hope that does it for ya....

wow pulling a motor before a compression test. Brave!

Well do the compression test and then start trouble shooting. Check fuel, check spark and and one will be laking then go down the line to find your problem.
